Legislative Advocacy Position


The Northwest Ohio Regional Economic Development Association (NORED) is currently seeking an individual or an organization to serve as its Legislative Advocate.

The Individual or organization filling the position must:

  • Monitor legislative and administrative actions and proceedings that may affect economic development, workforce development and other activities relative to NORED’s membership.
  • Provide data and background information on proposed or anticipated legislation and regulatory matters affecting the interests of NORED.
  • Provide a written update each month for distribution to the membership on relevant legislative and regulatory activities and actions at the state and, where applicable, federal level.
  • Provide guidance on recommendations related to political, legislative and regulatory issues and provide public policy strategic planning.
  • Respondent must demonstrate the ability and experience to assist in effectively communicating NORED perspectives to the legislature, agencies and regulatory entities and demonstrate the ability to support implementation of public policy goals and objectives of the association.
  • In addition to monthly reporting, Respondent will attend a minimum of four NORED functions per year, which may include but are not limited to, monthly board meetings and the annual meeting.
  • In all such duties, Respondent shall comply with all applicable state and municipal law, regulations, and orders.  Respondent shall be required, if necessary, to maintain all proper registrations and complete and submit all legislative reporting requirements in a timely manner.
  • Provide a statement of experience and list of clients.
  • Respondent will provide services desired by NORED from February 1, 2017, until either party with written notice terminates this agreement.

NORED is requesting interested individuals or organizations create and submit a proposal that clearly outlines how they will perform the functions of the position, and provide detailed information on services provided.  Respondent is required to clearly define the cost(s) associated with the proposed services.

Reponses are due by December 30, 2016

The position will start immediately upon approval by the NORED board after review and selection though the search committee. The chosen individual or organization may work from home or from his or her own business.
